Today’s journal entry is going to be simply photos and captions, because I had to edit and produce the newsletter for the Zonta Club of Sanibel-Captiva today. That job takes hours and hours. There is not enough time left today for writing. So, here we go!
This is a school in the Beaugrenelle area, near the rue Docteur Finlay. Like so many of the buildings in the old Beaugrenelle project, the design is not bad at all; the problem is that maintenance has not been done well over the past three decades.
A mysterious old storefront on the rue Rouelle.
This large, nice apartment complex at the corner of the rue du Theatre and the rue Emeriau is very appealing to me, partly because of its beautiful gardens (facing on each street), and partly because it is so well maintained. I could imagine living here half of the year.

Tom saw the name of this restaurant, and he said, “I would
never eat there!” It reminds me of the
name of a Thai restaurant where we once ate in San Francisco, except that name
was obscene (as it sounded in English).
We dined at Le Court Bouillon, on the rue du Theatre, last
night, because it has re-opened after vacation. We both had the dorade royale (golden bream), and while it was very good, it
wasn’t so exceptionally good as it was the last time I ordered it. The desserts, however, were fine. The only problem was that Le Pario was a tough act to
follow. Above, the moelleux au chocolat, with caramel
sauce and a little scoop of ice cream, and below, a millefeuille. I was also
annoyed that Le Court Bouillon’s credit card machine was not working
properly, and we had to pay cash. And
I’m annoyed that Bank of America is now charging an international transaction
fee for cash withdrawals from ATMs in France, even at BNP Paribas, with whom
they have an agreement. So, when we
pay by cash instead of with our Bank of America Travel Rewards Visa, we pay 3
percent more.
Fine building, well maintained, on the avenue Félix Faure.
Beware of the Segway tours!
